Job Purpose

The Business Support Division will lead innovation, business and technology services via a shared services model to business operations to enable the optimal use of digitisation, systems and processes to provide new revenue and value-producing opportunities and the achievement of objectives. This will include delivering detailed business analyses, project planning, monitoring and measurement for group-wide business projects and changes; and lead the integration of new and changing processes and systems into operations based on the agreed requirements of the business segments, and insights from specialised support functions.


The System Scheduling Specialist will be responsible for leading, managing and delivering the functional Kronos scheduling plans, framework, solutions and support in line with business and regulatory requirements. This will happen through the identification, systematic and methodical investigation, analysis and evaluation of business system needs and challenges around the functionality of the scheduling system, determining effective solutions, sustained and optimal system performance, as well as supporting and training end-users in successful scheduling methodologies.




  1. 8 years€™ experience in implementing staff scheduling and pay systems
  2. Demonstrable experience in IT operations or application support management
  3. Experience and exposure in gaming and hospitality operations is an advantage

Key Performance Areas:

  • Establish the Kronos scheduling system support plans, framework and roadmap for Sun International properties across South Africa including planning, developing and embedding the system in the business in line with leading practice
  • Create, update and manage governance frameworks, audits and alignment of the scheduling policy, system and framework to streamline and optimise these processes and reporting to be practised in the units
  • Offer expertise and provide leadership on staff scheduling methodologies and scheduling technology in order to meet business priorities (e.g. impact on customer experience, controlling of costs, leveraging of skills, governance, accountability)
  • Research and benchmark trends in staff scheduling systems and reporting to ensure the processes remain cost effective, efficient and reflective of the leading practice in the industry
  • Oversee the planning and delivery of solution components and evaluate and support changes and improvements to the user experience for Kronos scheduling system
  • Review technological and economic feasibility research in the area of staff scheduling; manage the investigation into risk and cost-benefit analyses and the design, development or purchase, implementation and monitoring of any new applications or changes to the current system
  • Manage the configuration, testing, maintenance and enhancement of the system within the business operations, in line with Company standards and regulations.
  • Compile project plans and resource requirements for the implementation of the scheduling system, technology and dashboards in conjunction with the PMO, according to business needs, specification and delivery of agreed functional and technical requirements
  • Monitor, audit and enable scheduling taking place in business operations, and offer expertise in mediating challenges
  • Conduct end-user training, coaching and offer expert advice for the optimal execution of scheduling in the business
  • Audit integrity of data through regular system data reviews, making any necessary adjustments
  • Provide input to payroll software and troubleshoot any system issues
  • Report and follow-through to resolution on any system challenges with IT and the system provider
  • Manage the system licences ensuring the configuration of the environment is in line with best practice
  • Relationship agreements with key suppliers, business partners and sponsors are built, negotiated and managed to achieve the business objectives and leverage new opportunities and joint initiatives
  • Troubleshoot escalated issues from the units relating to advanced scheduling issues
  • Mediate the relationship between Kronos users and payroll, investigating anomalies and ensuring remedial action is taken by units in areas of non-compliance
  • Monitor, audit and report on unit productivities and make recommendations to improve productivity results and challenges
