Job Purpose

Reporting to the Operations Manager the incumbent will be responsible for co-ordinating the effective operation of the maintenance function through the management of all associates and contractors and the implementation of the preventative programs


€¢ Matric or equivalent €¢ T3 or N5 Qualification €¢ Wireman€™s Licence


€¢ Qualify as the €œresponsible person€ in terms of the requirements of the relevant legislation €¢ Ten (10) years post apprenticeship experience in a relevant field €¢ Five (5) years proven Management experience in a same or similar environment €¢ Strong technical background with experience in most aspects of the maintenance fields associated with the hospitality / gaming industry

€¢ Proven Leadership ability €¢ Proven organisational skills, and ability to think strategically €¢ Proven Project Management Skills €¢ Experience on Computerized Building Management Systems, Computerized, Facility Management and Maintenance systems €¢ Strong technical background with experience in most aspects of the maintenance fields associated with the hotel industry €¢ Financially astute €“ budgeting and forecasting €¢ Computer literate (MS Excel, MS Word, Windows) €¢ Proven communication and interpersonal skills €¢ Attention to detail

Key Performance Areas:

€¢ Operations ? Co€“ordinate the effective operation of the Maintenance department within the complex ? Draft and co-ordinate the implementation of the departmental strategic plan ? Implement and maintain preventative Maintenance programs ? Conduct regular Maintenance audits on the complex ? Provide technical support, negotiate parts and material deals as well as service contracts ? Assume primary responsibility, where contractors are used, that they comply to their contractual obligations ? Play an active role as a management participant in the Health and Safety Committee meetings ? Liaise with Security Management regarding emergency procedure practices and ensure compliance by associates ? Preparation of budgets of capital expenditure, major repairs and maintenance, refurbishment and contingencies, unit repairs and maintenance budgets and unit utilities budgets ? Review monthly maintenance and energy expenditure against budget and implement corrective action as required €¢ PROJECTS - Effectively and efficiently co-ordinate and manage the business plans and evaluate the electrical, electronic, mechanical and plumbing engineering process to ensure that maximum value is extracted €¢ MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP ? Ensure the optimal performance of staff in the department ? Training and development of staff by recommending and organising appropriate training courses ? Implement sound ER processes
