Job Purpose

  • To manage the mechanical department in such a manner that all mechanical related equipment is maintained and repaired and operated according to standards.

Education

  • Grade 12
  • Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • Recognised trade certificate (Fitter and Turner)
  • Registration with ECSA will be an added advantage

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years€™ experience in a mechanical environment of which 3 must be at a managerial level
  • Overview understanding of HVAC
  • Computer literacy (MS Office and BMS system)

Key Performance Areas:

  • Implement Mechanical Maintenance and HVAC strategy
  • Mechanical and HVAC objectives are met and or exceeded as a result of proposals implemented from strategy
  • Plant system upgrades are performed in accordance with project plan - 5 year plan
  • Perform upgrades with the least disruption to production as per SLA's and SOP's
  • Conduct maintenance in accordance with stipulated plant checks (daily, weekly, monthly, 3 monthly, annual)
  • Check sourced information against standards and deviations queried
  • Adhere to standards (SOP's and legislative)
  • Maintain equipment as per required standards
  • Perform plant audits
  • Perform stock control as per stock levels and best practices
  • Meet report deadlines as per agreed timelines
  • Provide staff with the necessary training to meet the operational and job requirements
  • Provide staff with opportunities / forums to question and provide input
  • Deal with performance discrepancies and misconduct according to the HR and company guidelines
  • Align training to strategic plans, e.g. skills shortages, succession plans, talent management
  • Address Labour Relations issues as per company policy (timeous to avoid conflict escalating)
